Developing the elusive genius in ourselves

David Whyte describes;
genius originating from the latin meaning "the spirirt of a place". So genius is something that is itself and no other thing. For a leader the task is simple to inhabit our life fully and in that inhabitation, let everything ripen to the next stage of the conversation. The core act of leadership must be the act of making conversations real. The conversations that forge real relationships between the inside of the human being and their outer world or between an organisation… Continue

What's the elephant in the room?

There's a real art in sensing the tensions in a meeting and then drawing peoples' attention to the unspoken. It requires real self-awareness of what's going on in the moment, to unearth what needs declaration. By drawing on peoples' energies one can find a touch point that brings attention… Continue

Is fear paralysing organisations?

Perhaps it's not apparent because people are now expert at wearing a mask to hide their fear in organisational life. Individuals in organisations seem oblivious to possibility that their self is in remission. Perhaps self is being dehabilitated because of a preoccupation with hiding their fear. Thus it seems important to enable people to talk and elicit the nature of their fears. A starting point could be to carry in your imagination what your bosses and colleagues may be afraid of rather than b… Continue

Does exactly what it says on the tin?

I believe that to act with integrity means what our spoken voice needs to marry with how we feel inside. Only then will people really understand what we stand for because what we embody and how we talk are consistent. Indeed this is surely how we demonstrate personal int… Continue

Power of co-generating context

Why is it that managers present context at the begining? Doing this seems to miss an opportunity to explore what's on the participants minds in connection to the particular topic in question. I sense that only if we understand what's important to someone can we respond and influence their thinking. It's really worthwhile to invest the time to hear what everyone present is thinking and then everyone benefits from getting a broad contextual perspective. This lays the ground for everyone to explore… Continue

I'm still here until they don't need me any more.

Take a look at the following: 1and1.co.uk for your domain; Google Apps for your static website and wiki and email (get the free one at http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/business/editions.html); http://zoho.com/; http://www.linkedin.com/.

All the contents of my brain for a cappucino and a pastry? Now that's a good deal :-)

About

Rosanda McGrath Rosanda McGrath created this social network on Ning.

in brief

Emerging blog post themes include;

Rosanda completed the 3 Peaks challenge, climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in dreadful weather conditions. As David Whyte describes in "Crossing th unknown Sea" I was living on the edge doing different work that was challenging me both physically and mentally

in situ Rosanda's meeting place in Kew. Delegates commented "you manage to offer a sense of being “looked after” along with a refreshing informality" and another said "Rosanda’s is a very good venue to work. It is very personal and comfortable and has nothing of the sterility of those hotels that seem to train their staff to give every guest such a replicated personal “experience” [and everything seems to be an “experience” these days] that is anything but."

And for food lovers below is a delicious flapjack recipe, and a few further recipes that I've cooked for recent events
